FREE Lexical Development Norms for English

This is not a text, but it is so useful and fits in with the Luckevich text.

This gives the age normed vocabulary for many common words understood and used by  typical infants and toddlers so you can see if you are targeting words that are not  developmentally appropriate, and conversely missing those that are.

Thanks to Wayne Fisher, Ph.D., University of Nebraska for pointing this out.

$ Verbal Behavior Analysis: Inducing and Expanding New Verbal Capabilities in Children with Language Delays

R. Douglas Greer, Denise E. Ross

More detail

Note: This might NOT be the first book to choose for a parent/lay-person friendly introduction to Verbal Behavior; some parents have found it difficult to read, esp. if not familiar with ABA or VB. However, it is a useful intermediate between the introductory texts and professional journal articles and includes interesting information on instructional strategies and some things not covered in some other texts: autoclitics, what independent self-talk indicates and how to teach, etc. Dr. Greer has behavior analysis, learning process and curricular design down cold. So it might not be the first book to read, but it certainly is worth looking into if you are interested in the next step.
